US President Donald Trump said Sunday that the Qatari-donated jet that has served as Air Force One will be sent for upgrades, appearing to acknowledge the plane is not as thoroughly outfitted as older aircrafts.

The threat led the Secret Service to urge President Trump to fly out of Turkey on a different plane, raising questions about the security of the Qatari-donated jet.

The bill comes as the Air Force has ramped up A-10 divestment yet has not identified the aircraft that can, and will, replace the storied plane.

The President has said the jet is being taken out of commission and “maxed out” with upgrades.

The Qatari-donated Air Force One will be sent away for "maxed out" upgrades, Trump said Sunday in response to questions about security gaps.

Trump initially said his decision to switch to an older Air Force One aircraft for his flight from Turkey to the UK was done "for old time's sake."
