missing "search programs and files" on start menu. Dumb question. When using start option (lower left corner)on win7 laptop, you should have an option to search for anything in pc. This option is below the "all programs" selection. My laptop lost it somewhere.
My Search Programs and Files on the Start Button stop working precisly after Windows 7 downloaded and installed 23 updates on 4/14/2011. I use automatic daily updates.
Please correct me if im wrong but im sure the last time i used the search bit on the start button the i could see the location (path) of folders/files on the tooltip, but now i cant? Did i imagine it
from the search programs and files when I type in a command or program name here's what I get blank icons "programs, control panel, documents, Microsoft Outlook, Files" If I press on one of them I recieve a pop up saying "These files can't be opened. Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened".
Windows 7's "Search Programs and Files" is not functioning properly, it searches some folders, but ignores some others (which are newer), and when I choose "search again in: computer" it finds the ignored folders.

Most programs install automatically in the C:\Program Files folder (OPTION THREE below). Look in this folder some programs also include an uninstall program that you can use. Programs and features included with Windows 7 can be turned off in Windows Features.
